Adoption Tax Credit 2012

We’ve been getting a lot of searches for “adoption tax credit 2012″ lately.

Some of us are concerned about disallowing a tax credit to help deal with huge adoption costs.

The S.82 (Adoption Tax Relief Guarantee Act) was introduced on 1/25/11, by Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE). It’s pending in the Senate Finance Committee.

Please consider signing the petition on the sidebar (if you haven’t already done so) to support extending the adoption tax credit. I’ve heard back from both my senators too, it’s worth contacting them!

While we support extending the adoption tax credit, I’d like to emphasize that we do not believe in borrowing money or relying unequivocally on the credit to adopt.

I think adoption is one of the most beautiful things that can happen. I’m a huge fan of the concept. I have lots of friends who are adoptive parents. I think it’s very important. It’s a good thing to do, and I think it’s something you’re called to do. Obviously, you can give a child a great home.

I don’t borrow money. What would I do if I were in your shoes? I guess I’d have to work two extra jobs to save up the money. Or I’d have to look around and sell something because I’m going to pay cash. I would pay cash, or I wouldn’t do it, and that’s having said how important I think adoption is.

As for our family, we adhere to Dave Ramsey’s position. With respect to the expired tax credit, if we believe in adopting orphans into families, we need to support the extension of it.

Wild Olive Tees!

One way we’re fundraising for this adoption is through Wild Olive Tees! These great t-shirts are manufactured by a socially and environmentally conscious company.

We are also a “featured family” on Wild Olive Tees blog.

For every t-shirt sold, Wild Olive Tees will donate a portion of the proceeds directly to our agency, CCAI.

Please enter “JONES0610” in the coupon & comment boxes upon checkout.

Thanks for your support!

Fundraising Sale!

Ok, so maybe it won’t be quite like shopping in C-town…

…but on Saturday, September 3rd, we will have clothes, books, toys, furniture, and original artwork! And you won’t have to fight for a parking spot that your car won’t fit in anyway.

Plus someone around here is planning on having her own *food* stand. It’s going to be fun!

If you live near us, we would be grateful for anything you might be willing to donate to the sale.

100% of the proceeds will go towards our adoption costs.

Thanks to those who have already donated items to sell! See you there!
